I am 26, 5 foot 5, and 182 pounds. I'd like to get down to the 120-135 range. I'd like to eat healthier and feel more satisfied with realistic portion sizes. I'd like to get fit. And I'd like to work it all into my lifestyle such that, in time anyway, it is just habit and not something that either is consuming all of my thoughts, energy, and efforts, or is not happening at all (which is how I got this big...).
My biggest challenges are hunger (complete with weakness and mood swings), bad habits and beliefs (that lead me to avoid cooking, for example), and excuses. I'm also working with a low income and fluctuating life circumstances, which causes stress.
But I'm sick of seeing my weight skyrocket. If I don't get serious, some day I'll find myself 200, 250, 300 pounds and I'll have to get serious anyway, but have a lot further to go than the ~60 pounds I have to shed now! I really have to make some changes, for good.
I'd love to make some friends who are on the same journey, at whatever stage. We can blog together, share tips and recipes, encourage one another, and generally feel like we're accountable to someone, like someone is reading our posts so we have more reasons to keep making them.
