It took me about a year and a half, to get to 140, and then I've been able to maintain since then. I just recently gone through some major stress, and now I'm at 150. My fiance is NOT on any kind of diet. If anything, he's on an anti-diet.
The thing is that you have to accept that and realize, that this is a change that you have to make for YOU. You probably won't get very much support from your friends and family. Thank god for the internet, because that's where I found the support I needed.
I highly recommend reading New Atkins For a New You before you start, and also signing up for a free account at Atkins.com
That website is super active, and there are a lot of people who have been following this way of eating for many many years. This site was a HUGE source of support for me.
You can add me on Atkins.com if you want (I'm onthemend on there)
I also have a facebook if you're interested in adding me there.
And I just started a channel on youtube (it's called HealthyForSure: http://www.youtube.com/user/HealthyForSure?feature=mhee
I just started the channel, but I'm going to be making a lot of health related videos.
